This is from a person on the internet who looked in one of her Civil War books: Lt.Col. A.S. CUTTS who led CUTTS Battalion in the Reserve Artillery led by Brig. Gen William N. Pendleton, in Jackson's Corps, in the Army of Virginia led by Robert E. Lee at the Battle of Antietam, September 1862. There was a listing only, no other reference. I can tell from this listing that he was neither killed nor wounded. Don't know if this is your line but hope it provides new info! This is a reply from William CUTTS who is researching this line: I have found out that this Allen S. Cutts is in our Cutts line. His father, Major (that's his name not a rank) was brother to Joseph Cutts who is our GGG grandfather. A.S. seems to be the only rich Cutts I have turned up so far. Of course he lost most of his property in the Civil War. He was even mayor of Americus for a while after the war. He was a major slave owner in Georgia. I have found a slew of black Cutts folks in the Georgia census records after the civil war. I assume that's from his former "property". A.S. was also a major backer in building the railroad to Live Oak, FL. I have also found a newspaper article from Americus where it recounts his involvement in the last (illegal) slave ship to transport slaves to Georgia from Africa.
